 The program

The program is for girls in 8th grade and is also perfect for those who don’t have any prior experience. This program is a year-long program that includes weekly 3-hour long afternoon study sessions in small groups, various enrichment workshops, tours in hi-tech companies and lectures. Also, when the year is over the participants take part in Israel’s largest technology hackathon for teen girls, during which they build WEB apps and present them to seniors in the industry and local authorities.

What happens in the meetings

During the meetings the girls acquire a thorough and strong base in the HTML, JavaScript and CSS languages. The meetings combine programming studies and social and value-based activities. The meetings are run by young women studying computer science and engineering. The principles that guide us this year are self-efficacy, courage, self and project-based learning and studying in pairs.

Also, this year an entrepreneurship program is taking place, where they create WEB apps as part of a team, which they present to seniors in the industry and local authorities as part of Israel’s largest technological hackathon for teen girls.

Study groups for the computer science elective

The program

The program is intended for participants in 10th-12th grades that are taking the computer science elective. This is year-long. The study group meets once a week, for 3 hours, with instructors who are computer science and engineering students and are second year instructors in the organization.

What happens in the meetings

In this program, in addition to new material from Queen B’s pedagogy, the instructors support the students in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s syllabus and are there to review the material studied in class, help with homework, prepare for tests and run study-marathons for the finals. The study group program is designed to provide the student’s educational needs, but also to create an affinity group for young female programmers, as this need is rarely answered in the schools. The study group is a supportive female environment, where the students can continue their studying process with all their Queen B friends, practice the material studied in class in a fun way and continue enriching themselves in the technological world.
